Is 2026 Going To Be The Year Of The Crack?

At the 2025 Met Gala, Vogue declared that boobs are back —a truth that would resonate throughout the year, as heaving bosoms (both natural and man-made) appeared on red carpets everywhere. Now, 2026 is shaping up to prioritize a different kind of cleavage.

After Alexander McQueen's spring 1995 collection introduced the bumster, the derrière-baring look has enjoyed several resurgences—most recently in McQueen's spring 2026 collection by Seán McGirr. Alex Consani sauntered down the runway in a pair of ruffled red lace trousers, her bottom pushed over the top of the leather waistband like a pair of breasts in a pushup bra.

Celebrities are experimenting with the look too. At the 2024 Met Gala , Kendall Jenner opted for a never-worn archival Givenchy dress by Alexander McQueen (who else?), a sliver of mesh slung low across Jenner's hips offering just the slightest glimpse of her backside.

Others took it further in 2025. At the Vanity Fair Oscars party, Zoë Kravitz hit the carpet in a custom black Saint Laurent dress complete with a sheer rhinestone-dotted back panel that showed off her rear end. Kravitz's friend Hailey Bieber followed suit at the 2025 GQ Man of the Year Awards, opting for a noughties-inspired whale tail emerging from her sheer beaded dress.

Between the revival of bumsters at McQueen and fashion-forward celebrities taking a stab at the bold reveal, we can only wonder: Will 2026 be the year of the crack?

Emily Ratajkowski Goes Topless Under Plunging Blazer In Office Siren Look

It's no secret that Ratajkowski is a fan of all things naked dressing , whether she's posing in a micro thong string bikini or taking the plunge in a dramatic side boob-baring LBD . And in an Instagram Story post shared on December 30, EmRata demonstrated how she remixes a classic black suit with the barely-there trend. Resharing an end-of-year photo dump from Adwoa Aboah, Ratajkowski could be seen standing outside Dr. Nyla Medispa in London while wearing the ultimate office-to-night-out look.

In the twilight photo, the Too Much actress leaned up against a fence while nailing the office siren aesthetic. She ditched her bra and top, wearing a structured black blazer jacket with an oversized fit and a neckline that plunged to her stomach. Ratajkowski wore her long dark brown hair in an effortless natural style while bringing back a divisive Y2K-era silhouette with her matching black trousers: Flared pants, which hugged her thighs before dramatically billowing out around her knees. A pair of black sandal stilettos peeped out from underneath the floor-grazing design.

The 2025 GQ Fashion Awards: The Best Trends, Shows, And Designers Of The Year

On a beautiful evening in July, Haider Ackermann is sitting on the roof of his Tom Ford design studio in Paris. It's golden hour on one of the longest days of the year, ie, well past quitting time, yet the office is still frantic with activity. When I note the hour, the designer responds with a wistful sigh. "When you have a new love affair, you just want to go for it, " he says. "You don't count the hours. You're not tired, because you just have this love going through your veins. It makes your heart beat and it keeps you up at night."

The Colombian-born French designer was named creative director of Tom Ford in 2024, and the relationship had aroused all of men's fashion . In fact, Ackermann's March debut suggested that he might be the most seductive designer working today. In a small auditorium just off Place Vendôme, guests entered the dimly lit confines of a make-believe private room somewhere between the Studio 54 that Mr Ford (as Ackermann invariably refers to him) used to frequent and the hedonistic clubs of Ackermann's Antwerp youth. Once the preshow martinis were polished off, models skulked around the room in clothes that had a titillating, intimate edge. There were '80s banker-pinstripe suits cut with long, languid trousers; silk robes and playful pops of colour; a tuxedo shirt unbuttoned to the tank top underneath.

It wasn't sexy in the traditional sense. There were no bared pectorals or exposed washboard abs. There weren't even any short shorts, which many designers still seem to think have aphrodisiacal qualities. Ackermann has always known a better way to get the pulse racing, which is to let the audience's imagination take over. On the runway, it looked as if the models had thrown their clothes on in the morning after a steamy tryst—one guy even had a supple tweed jacket draped over his cruisy leather getup, a newspaper tucked in his tote bag. Ackermann took his bow to a standing ovation led by Mr Ford himself.

As we share a beer on the roof, Ackermann acknowledges that this is no time to come up for air. How many first dates are driven by blind passion, while the sober second is a fl op? Ackermann speaks thoughtfully but definitively, with a French-inflected purr. "It's time to start the real work!" he says. "And try to continue this dialogue to put my own, not my own language on it, but my own accent on it."

Este Haim Is Married! Inside Her Final Wedding Dress Fitting At Louis Vuitton In Paris

Last night on New Year's Eve, musician Este Haim married tech entrepreneur Jonathan "Johnny" Levin at an intimate ceremony in California—and back in November, Vogue was on hand to document the final fitting of her Louis Vuitton wedding dress, designed by her friend Nicolas Ghesquière.

To begin, we track down the Haim sisters in Paris, as Este, Alana, and Danielle walk and talk their way to the Louis Vuitton atelier. In addition to trying on Este's ceremony, reception, and after-party looks, Alana and Danielle are also seeing their bridesmaids' dresses one last time.

"I've been looking forward to this day since I was five," Este—who grew up with her sisters in California's San Fernando Valley—admits. "When I was five, I had this vision of me, coming down a spiral staircase, there's a scene in Cinderella that probably is what I was mimicking, but I would descend in this giant ballroom gown, and then my fiancé, [my] husband, would be at the bottom and grab my hand."

Upon entering the atelier, Este immediately cracks a joke: "Can I live here?!" Then, the sisters are presented with two pale blue bridesmaid dresses on mannequins. The looks are met with excited screams. Alana and Danielle rush towards the dresses and pose beside them, before kicking off the sisterly banter that is a constant throughout the fitting.

Este explains that Johnny asked her to marry him a little over a year ago, on December 22, 2024. The musician had no idea it was coming and was completely surprised. "I had Mario Badescu acne medication on, my hair was in a top knot, I had no makeup on, I was in sweats and sneakers, and we were on a hike," she remembers of the proposal, at which Johnny popped the question with a placeholder ring. "A beautiful ring still, but the second he was like, 'Will you marry me?' and I said yes, he also was like, 'We need to design this ring, because this is not the final thing,'" Este explains. "I thought [that] was really, really sweet."

What Ralph Lauren CEO Patrice Louvet Gets Right About Culture

As markets accelerate and expectations fragment, leaders feel pressure to constantly adjust: new messaging, new initiatives, and new cultural language meant to signal modernity. Relevance becomes something to chase rather than something to preserve. The result is motion without direction: organizations move faster while standing for less.

Over time, culture becomes harder to describe. Not because it's complex, but because it's no longer clear. What's often misunderstood is that relevance isn't created by novelty; it's born of recognizability.

When Patrice Louvet took over as CEO, the company was navigating a familiar leadership tension. The brand was iconic, but its connection with younger audiences had weakened. Many organizations respond to that moment by chasing relevance through new trends, louder messaging, or broader distribution.

However, in an earlier interview on This Is Working , Louvet explained that they resisted this and instead returned to first principles. "The business we're in is the dreams business," he said. That framing served as an operating constraint. Decisions about products, partnerships, and where the brand showed up in the world flowed from that clarity.

This distinction matters well beyond retail. Coherence doesn't come from having more ideas. It comes from narrowing the lens through which decisions are made. When leadership is clear about what an organization stands for, relevance becomes a byproduct rather than a pursuit.

Coherence—and ultimately culture—is experienced through environments, decisions, and standards that don't break under exposure or sway with opinion.
