I Tested The New Collection

I'm a style editor who lives and breathes activewear—and have a closet full of Vuori , lululemon , and Alo Yoga to prove it. But honestly, I'm a little late to the game when it comes to On (despite On running shoes being a total WH editor favorite). So when the Zendaya capsule dropped, I figured: If I'm going to give On a proper first go, I want to do it with a collection that clearly leans into both fashion and performance.

There's no doubt these pieces look great. The collection is full of sleek-looking sneakers, jackets, and bottoms in a variety of chic colors and flattering silhouettes. But part of my job is asking: Does this item really perform? Or is it just great street style? I put three pieces through their paces—from HIIT workouts to all-day errands—to find out.

This sneaker was the first item I put to the test from the collection (and from On as a whole!), so my expectations were high. Right out of the box, I was immediately impressed with how stylish the shoe looked. I'm not a huge fan of black sneakers, but I found this shoe really easy to style with a lot of my existing wardrobe. It's super sleek with a low-profile look that looks great with a pair of crew socks and leggings or shorts. I personally love pairing mine with the below track jacket and short set, and a black tank top underneath.

While they are undeniably stylish, they don't skimp on support either. The midsole feels really stable, and for a low-profile shoe, my foot feels surprisingly locked in on long walks and runs. That's likely due to On's Speedboard technology, a thermoplastic sole that is equally stiff and flexible. That said, if you're a fan of the Swiss brand's cloud-like cushioning, these might not fully deliver on that ultra-plush feel. This sort of threw me at first, given the name of the shoe. They're more structured than they are squishy, which works beautifully for walking and training—but less so if you're chasing that marshmallow-soft ride.
