Jurnee Smollett joined a host of celebrities on the red carpet for Variety's 2025 Power of Women event in Los Angeles last night.
I've never fully understood the appeal of these asymmetric dresses where one leg steps inside the fabric while the other is left exposed, hanging in limbo. This Tom Ford Fall 2025 gown is a perfect example of that awkward design trope.
While I'll give credit where it's due — the electric shade of yellow looks radiant against Jurnee's complexion — everything else about the dress leaves me cold. The remaining leg is so exaggerated that it feels forced, and the draping kinda feels a bit sloppy and not in keeping with the precision we usually associate with Tom Ford. Instead, it comes across as dated, like something we've seen recycled from the early 00s.
Jurnee is someone I usually look forward to seeing on the red carpet because she's not afraid to take risks, but lately her choices have felt all over the place. I'm all for experimentation, but this one misses the mark entirely.
