Penguin Press has unveiled the cover for Paul McCartney 's upcoming book celebrating Wings' career, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run .
McCartney says of the book, which will arrive later this year, "Suddenly Wings has found its moment. We have a generational shift at work, and it's like being transported back on a magic carpet. Working on the book has awakened so many beautiful memories of our times back then."
Wings: The Story Of A Band On The Run is set for official release on November 4th, 2025, and features a front cover shot by Linda McCartney that shows her with Henry McCullough, Paul McCartney, Denny Laine, and Denny Seiwell in Spain in 1972.
The book describes itself as an "oral history" of the group's journey from their genesis in 1971, following the break-up of The Beatles, and McCartney finding a new creative vessel to express his songwriting prowess while selling 22 million records along the way.
More information has also been released about the project which promises to be told from the perspective of those who were there, such as Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Mary McCartney, Stella McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Sean Ono Lennon, Chrissie Hynde, Dustin Hoffman, Twiggy and all the members of Wings.
The book includes a foreword written by McCartney and is compiled from over 42 hours of brand-new interviews, as well as historical interviews, along with newly discovered, previously unheard interviews from the musician's personal archive.
He continued: "Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, 'OK this is really good.' We proved Wings could be a really good band. To play to huge audiences in the same way The Beatles had and have an impact in a different way. It was a huge buzz".
