I NDEPENDENT DESIGNER BIBI van der Velden, who was born in New York and raised in England and the Netherlands, launched her brand in 2005, 20 years ago. Her aesthetic blends her talent for sculptural jewelry with her affinity for the natural world, particularly the animal kingdom, which she translates into 18K recycled gold and gemstones as well as ancient mammoth tusks and iridescent scarab rings. Her imaginative take on jewelry is created with secret and unexpected mechanisms, adding to the soulfulness of the jewels.
