Today, the French fashion house known for its love of travel debuts a collection of lipsticks, balms and eye shadows ⁘ plus cosmetic cases and small leather goods
Ever since Louis Vuitton made its debut with stylish trunks for the modern traveler in 1854, the French luxury fashion house has shown an interest in beauty.
Its earliest trunks had cushioned compartments intended to carry delicate fragrances on long journeys, and in the 1920s, Louis Vuitton introduced custom vanity cases, tortoiseshell hairbrushes, carved ivory compacts and glass perfume bottles.
On Aug. 29, the house known for incorporating a love of travel into its luggage, bags, ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, watches, fragrances and more entered the makeup realm by launching the La Beaut⁘ Louis Vuitton collection ⁘ lipsticks, balms and eye shadows available in select stores and on louisvuitton.com, that draw from its trunk-making artistry and aesthetic.
As the new creative director of cosmetics, renowned makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath, DBE looked to the brand⁘s archives in designing a line of high-quality, stylishly packaged products imagined as objects of art.
⁘Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beaut⁘,⁘ McGrath tells Los Angeles . ⁘I⁘ve always said makeup is more than product: it⁘s performance, obsession and emotion. This new chapter is about pushing craftsmanship into a new realm.⁘
